Reflexology is an established non-invasive complementary health therapy practised worldwide which treats the person not their health conditions. It does not claim to diagnose or cure, however it can be offered as a support therapy in acute and chronic illness alongside medical treatments. That can mean supporting people living with illnesses.
Reflexologists are trained to use their touch on recognised "reflex" points on the feet and hands (as well as other areas of the body such as face and ears) which we recognise as having links to the body’s organs and systems.
It is based on the theory that by using touch on reflex points it may be effective in promoting deep relaxation and well-being. This in turn may reduce stress and optimise good health and build resilience. Whilst Reflexologists can only claim to treat for stress states and relaxation, many Clients find that after having reflexology, it easier to cope with their particular health condition or problem.
Reflexology can be of benefit to people of all ages and with different health needs.
Potential benefits of having reflexology treatments include;
Pain reduction
Release of tension
Improved mood
Relaxation and calmness
Promotion of well-being
Refreshing sleep
